U.S. Embassy Literature Series features Annie Proulx at the Frankfurt City Library
May 16, 2008.  The U.S. Embassy Literature Series featured a reading by American author and Pulitzer Prize winner Annie Proulx at the Frankfurt city library, the U.S. Consulate's AmericaAtYourLibrary partner, on May 16. Jörn Hasenclever, Director of the city library’s central building, welcomed the over 250 fans who had flocked to the reading.  Public Affairs Officer Jim Seward introduced Annie Proulx and gave an overview of her works and her awards, which also included the PEN/Faulkner award that she received as the first woman and the National Book award. Her novel The Shipping News and the short story Brokeback Mountain  were adapted to Golden Globe and Academy award-winning movies.

On May 17th Annie Proulx went on to Heidelberg where she held a reading at the Annual Conference of the German Association for American Studies.
