Seminar on American Politics Under the New Administration
June 3-4, 2009. The U.S. Consulate General, the Atlantic Academy and the Rhineland–Palatinate teacher training institution IFB jointly organized a seminar on “A New President, a New Administration, New Policies?” at the Pfalz-Academy in Lambrecht, Rhineland–Palatinate, on June 3 and 4. Over 40 teachers from the states of Rhineland–Palatinate and Hesse thoroughly enjoyed presentations by a faculty of five experts, among them three Americans, Prof. David Goldfield, University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Prof. Russell Riley, University of Virginia at Charlottesville, and Miranda Schreurs, Free University of Berlin and member of the Environmental Expert Council of the Federal Ministry for the Environment. The teachers received detailed and cutting-edge information as well as sound analysis of the administrations’ new policy directions and were also offered a live TV broadcast of President Obama’s major policy speech at Cairo University. The presentations and the speech triggered intensive discussions which revealed highly positive perceptions of the new administration on part of the audience.
