December 16, 2005. At a Christmas reception hosted by the Hesse state chancery at Schloß Biebrich on December 16 for the U.S. troops based in Hesse, Minister President Koch and U.S. Consul General Bodde thanked the soldiers for their continued services and their good relationship with the German host country. Even though troop numbers have decreased over the last years, the military community is still an essential partner for promoting German-American friendship in the region. To the sound of Christmas carols sung by a local school choir the children of the soldiers received Christmas presents from Santa Claus and his angelic helper.
