| Terence Ward signs his book |
November 30, 2007. Consul General Powell hosted a luncheon for U.S. author Terence Ward to give selected contacts the opportunity for closer discussion and dialogue with this distinguished writer. In the evening, Frankfurters gathered at the local city library, the U.S. Consulate's America@yourLibrary partner, to meet Terence Ward and listen to the reading from his book “Searching for Hassan: A Journey into the Heart of Iran.” Mr. Ward, who grew up in Tehran and now works as a cross-cultural consultant for Multinational Corporations, gave a ninety minute talk telling the story of his family’s return to Iran to search for an old family friend. While taking the audience on a literary journey from Shiraz to Tehran, Ward sketched out the history of the country over thousands of years. In his presentation, Ward reminded the audience that Iran has historically sat astride cultural exchange routes running between East and West as well as not to construct an image of a country simply from what is presented in the media everyday.
