October 14, 2005. The Consular Section of the U.S. Consulate General issued the first visa at the new Frankfurt office building on October 14. “We now can provide more efficient service to our customers in a very comfortable environment,” Consular Section Chief Andrew Parker said at a media event in the Consular waiting area, a brand new atrium with a capacity of almost 300 people. In Fiscal Year 2005 the Consular Section in Frankfurt issued over 54,000 non-immigrant visas, 5,000 immigrant visas, 23,000 passports and 5,000 reports of birth.

Starting October 17, full service will be available again from the visa section. In case of emergency, visa appointments can be requested by e-mail at FrankfurtSpecialNIV@state.gov or via Live Operator Service at 0190-850055 (EUR 1,86/min). The U.S. Embassy website offers extensive information on visa issues at http://www.usembassy.de/germany/visa/index.html
