"Understanding" Competition Winners Receive Checks from Sponsor Fraport
September 23, 2008. The second and third prize winners of this year’s "Understanding/Überbrücken (Bridging Over)" contest, Aukamm Elementary School and Wiesbaden High School, received checks of Euros 1000 and 2000 respectively from sponsor Fraport. The elementary school students together with their German exchange school in Nauheim had produced a video about the Airlift. The students of Wiesbaden High School developed a webpage with information about the Airlift and sent 'care packages' to a school in Berlin Spandau. The contest, which takes place every two years on relevant topics, is part of the Understanding program jointly organized by the U.S. Consulate General and the City of Frankfurt. The program promotes German-American friendship by facilitating a lively cultural exchange between Americans and Germans, particularly in the Frankfurt region.
