December 1, 2005. The U.S. Consulate General Frankfurt hosted a teacher training seminar on "The Golden Age of Television - The Role of TV Series in U.S. Popular Culture" on December 1 at the Amerika Haus. Scott Rauland, the Consulate's Director of Public Affairs (PAO), delivered introductory remarks. Jane Feuer, Professor of English and Film Studies at the University of Pittsburgh, analyzed several TV series, such as "West Wing" and "The Sopranos," while Barbra Morris from the University of Michigan discussed "The Reflection of Cultural Dilemmas in Teledrama and the Viewer's Consciousness." A hands-on demonstration of how to use TV spots in the classroom concluded the workshop.

The Consulate's Information Resource Center staff contributed materials to the workshop and distributed the latest edition of their acclaimed Newsletter for English Teachers. To sign up for the newsletter, please send an E-mail to IRCFrankfurt@state.gov.
