Public Affairs

Program Section

Public Affairs organizes conferences, seminars, lectures, and roundtables, as well as readings and exhibits, on a wide range of issues, mainly in collaboration with German professional, academic, and cultural institutions. Our events provide a regular forum of dialogue for representatives of American and German government agencies, companies, associations, trade unions, think tanks, universities, non-governmental organizations, media, and political parties.

The cultural affairs office initiates and designs exchange programs for opinion shapers in politics, business, culture and the media. The Voluntary Visitor Program enables German experts and delegations to participate in information tours to the U.S., which include visits to government and public institutions on the federal as well as state and municipal levels. In addition, Public Affairs develops and cultivates exchange programs between German and American colleges and universities. In cooperation with the American organization Sister Cities International, the cultural affairs office helps maintain existing sister city relationships and supports German cities in establishing partnerships with American cities.
