Celebration of Hesse's 60th Birthday

September 19, 2005. Consul General Peter W. Bodde celebrated Hesse’s 60 th Birthday together with Science Minister Udo Corts and Frankfurt University President Prof. Dr. Rudolf Steinberg at a press conference in the former office of General Dwight D. Eisenhower at the Frankfurt IG-Farben Building on September 19.

Consul General Bodde emphasized the impact of America’s “Great Generation,” exemplified by Dwight D. Eisenhower and George Marshall, on the development of a strong and stable democracy in Germany. Hesse Science Minister Corts, introducing the program of an all-day 60th anniversary celebration in Frankfurt on October 2, said: “We owe a debt of gratitude to our American friends in many ways. After all we owe them the foundation of the state of Hesse.”
