Military Naturalization Ceremony at Amerika Haus

September 15, 2005. On September 15, Consul General Peter Bodde joined 37 service members from 25 different countries, their families and friends at their naturalization ceremony at Amerika Haus where they became citizens of the United States. In his remarks to them, he pointed out that the United States is built on the dreams and determination of millions of immigrants and that it has grown and flourished through their contributions and sacrifices. Mr. Bodde called Germany a fitting place to acquire US citizenship, as so many Germans have crossed the Atlantic to adopt America as their new home. “From Baron von Steuben, who helped General Washington make the Continental Army strong enough to defeat the Redcoats, to former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, they have helped make America what it is today.”
