October 26, 2005. On the occasion of Ramadan, Deputy Consul General Geeta Pasi and PAO Scott Rauland, Director of the Amerika Haus Frankfurt, hosted over 50 Muslim representatives from government, business, academia and culture to an Iftaar dinner at the Amerika Haus. Chaplain Ibraheem Rasheed (U.S. Military in Hanau) announced the breaking of the fast and Chaplain Abdullah-Rasheed Muhammad (U.S. Military in Kitzingen) led the prayer. In his welcoming remarks, the PAO emphasized the recognized role of the Amerika Haus as a forum for intercultural dialogue.

"Over the years we have developed important traditions and celebrated many types of events, some of which, such as Christmas, where of a religious character. Today many millions of Americans are of Islamic background and in the Frankfurt region the number of Muslim citizens has increased significantly. Therefore, the time has come to celebrate Ramadan together tonight and to start a new tradition at the Amerika Haus."

The Deputy Consul General quoted from President George W. Bush's Ramadan address: "Throughout our history, America has been blessed by the contributions of people of many different faiths. Our Muslim citizens have helped make our Nation a stronger and more hopeful place through their faith, generosity, and compassion. May this be a blessed Ramadan for Muslims in the United States and around the world. Ramadan mubarak."
