September 19, 2005. New York-born "learned Berliner" Holly-Jane Rahlens, the celebrated author of "Prinz William, Maximilian Minsky and I" (German Youth Literature Prize 2003) and one of the best-known American performance artists in Europe, entertained a cheerful crowd with segments of her latest book "How To Really Kiss" at Amerika Haus Frankfurt on September 19. Living up to her reputation as being a “storyteller by the devil’s grace” (Der Tagesspiegel), she immediately drew the audience into the world of the pains and passions of the book's main character, a 15-year-old teenage girl who is in hormone hell and forced to go on a three-week trip though the German province with her psychologist mother "Dr. Mom", only accompanied by a sex guide and dreams about the greatest boy of all she had just fallen in love with...
After an evening that was perceived as "way too short", the prospect of enjoying more readings by Holly-Jane Rahlens at the Frankfurt Bookfair in October made it a lot easier for the fans to leave.
Cécile Schortmann, Hessischer Rundfunk, introduced the author and moderated the Q&A session following the reading. The reading was organized in cooperation with Literaturhaus Frankfurt and the book store "Tatzelwurm."
