Consul General Powell Celebrates 50th Anniversary of GAI Saarbrücken

October 26, 2007. Consul General Jo Ellen Powell gave a speech celebrating the work of the
German-American Institute Saarbrücken and its dedication to promoting and strengthening German-American relations over the last 50 years. Through student advising, exhibits, film screenings and lectures the German-American Institute helps to disseminate information about American politics, economics, culture and the 'American Way of Life' in the region. Together with GAI director Dr. Hartmut Gimmler and former culture minister Jürgen Schreier, the Consul General presented a certificate of appreciation to long-standing member and former director of the board, Prof. Dr. Hubert Rohde, for his 28 year long commitment to the activities of the German-American Institute.
