January 21, 2007. The exhibit "When Rivers Fall Down" with Performances, Installations, and Sculptures by U.S. artist Adrian Williams opened at Naussauischer Kunstverein with an enthusiastic crowd of all ages. At the center of the opening was the performance "Umbrella in the Sink" by Adrian Williams and Theodor Köhler. In front of the twittering setting of a Winter garden turned entirely into a birdcage, the performance tells about the migration of the Arctic Tern and the mysterious tale of an obsessive chase of the wanted object forever fleeing over continents and oceans - a chase that comes to a tragic end.
The Frankfurt-based composer Theodor Köhler, transfers the story into a composition for two violins and a contrabass. The exhibition catalogue will be a vinyl record and will be introduced at the finissage on March 4, 15:00. Adrian Williams (*1979 in Oregon/USA) has studied at the Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland Oregon and received her B.F.A. from Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York. In 2002 she came to Städelschule Frankfurt and graduated in 2006 as Master Student of Ayse Erkmen. She is the 2007 New York fellow of the Hessischer Kulturstiftung and lives and works in Frankfurt am Main.
The exhibit can be seen until March 4, 2007 at Naussauischer Kunstverein, Wilhelmstraße 15, 65185 Wiesbaden.
