Celebrating the U.S. Elections 2008 in Frankfurt
November 4+5, 2008.  Some 1400 invited guests joined Consul General Jo Ellen Powell, consulate officials and staff for an all night party to celebrate the 2008 U.S. Elections at the Westin Grand Hotel in Frankfurt. The event that lasted from 22:00 in the evening of November 4 through 8:30 in the morning of November 5, was sponsored by the American German Business Club Frankfurt, Commerzbank AG, Starbucks, Hessischer Rundfunk, Hessische Landeszentrale für politische Bildung and others.

American and German experts provided background on U.S. election campaign strategies and swing states as well as analysis of the results. The guests cheerfully participated in a quiz to test their knowledge about American politics. The prizes included tickets to a play at the English Theatre Frankfurt and a breakfast at the Westin Grand. The band "15 Strings" entertained the guests in the course of the night.
