Nagin Cox tours ESOC with Mars exploration engineers

Nagin Cox of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, visited the European Space Agency’s control center ESOC in Darmstadt. As a Deputy Flight System Engineering Manager on the Mars Science Laboratory she is working on the next NASA rover to Mars in 2011. She was welcomed by the Head of ESA’s Mission Operations Department and then exchanged experiences on Mars exploration with ESA’s Spacecraft Operations Manager Mars Express and his deputy. Ms. Cox took the opportunity to also speak about her mission to one hundred students and teachers at the Lichtenbergschule in Darmstadt who received insights into the scientific dimension and technical challenges of landing rovers on Mars.
