Departure to America
April 29, 2009. The exhibition “Aufbruch nach Amerika, 1709-2009” at Theodor-Zink-Museum in Kaiserslautern  opened a series of events to commemorate the 300 year history of emigration from Rheinland-Pfalz to the United States. Public Affairs Officer Jeanine Collins emphazised in her opening remarks the important role of German immigrants for the United States and reminded the audience that the United States would not be the same without the German immigrants. The exhibition and the accompanying events are organized by the Atlantische Akademie Rheinland-Pfalz, the Theodor-Zink-Museum, the Institutes for Palatinate History and folklore as well as a number of other cultural institutions in Rheinland-Pfalz. The exhibit will be shown until Augsut 2, 2009 at Theodor-Zink-Museum, Steinstrasse 48, 67657 Kaiserslautern (www.theodor-zink-museum.de) More information on the program can be found at www.atlantische-akademie.de
