Consulate Community Remembers September 11
September 11, 2008. With the flag at half mast and in front of Marine Color Guard, Consul General Jo Ellen Powell remembered the victims of September 11 in a memorial service that brought together consulate employees and their families.  The Consul General said she -- like all those gathered -- would always remember with crystal clarity the moment she heard of the tragedy, and thanked the heroes of September 11, among them Secret Service Agent Tim Boerner, who had reported for duty at the field office in World Trade Center days before September 11 and assisted others at Ground Zero at the risk of his own safety.   She also thanked Germans for their empathy and support, and noted that eleven Germans were among the almost three thousand victims.   Agent Boerner then joined the Consul General in laying the wreath.  A moment of silence was followed by a benediction delivered by Reverend Wolff.  Remarks by Consul General Jo Ellen Powell | Photogallery
