U.S. Consul General Jo Ellen Powell Visits Baunatal School
March 17, 2009. U.S. Consul General Jo Ellen Powell visited the Theodor-Heuss school at the invitation of a class of 30 eighth graders on March 17 in Baunatal. As part of their English class, the students had prepared several presentations about life in the U.S, including skating in Los Angeles and music in New Orleans, that they showed the Consul General. Other students prepared a delicious Hawaiian pineapple cake. After a tour of the school, Consul General Powell answered questions posed by students about exchange opportunities, President Obama, the meaning of the American Dream and her own personal experiences. At the conclusion of the discussion, the Consul General presented a selection of books about the U.S. to the school library. The students were excited and impressed that their letters to ex-Ambassador Timken had provided them with opportunities for first-hand engagement with the Consul General. | For video please click here
